Wicked (9)

Music & Lyrics: Stephen Schwartz // Book: Winnie Holzman

First US National Tour (Emerald City) | May, 2006 | master: House cam | mp4

Victoria Matlock (s/b Elphaba), Kendra Kassebaum (Glinda), Nicolas Dromard (u/s Fiyero), PJ Benjamin (The Wizard), Alma Cuervo (Madame Morrible), Jennifer Waldman (Nessarose), Kirk McDonald (Boq), K Todd Freeman (Doctor Dillamond)

Notes: Pro-shot from the house camera. Mid-stage shot, so the entire set fills the entire screen, no zooms.

First US National Tour (Emerald City) | August 16, 2009 | master: SJ Bernly | VOB

Donna Vivino (Elphaba), Katie Rose Clarke (Glinda), Richard H Blake (Fiyero), Lenny Wolpe (The Wizard), Myra Lucretia Taylor (Madame Morrible), Amanda Rose (Nessarose), Ben Liebert (Boq), Paul Slade Smith (Doctor Dillamond)

Notes: Katie's last performance

Broadway | August 5, 2008 | master: Broadwayspunk | VOB

Kerry Ellis (Elphaba), Kendra Kassebaum (Glinda), Aaron Tveit (Fiyero), PJ Benjamin (The Wizard), Jayne Houdyshell (Madame Morrible), Cristy Candler (Nessarose), Ben Liebert (Boq), Steven Skybell (Doctor Dillamond)

Notes: No obstructions, only two brief blackouts at the beginning of Act 2. Slight shakiness and good combination of close-ups and full stage.

Broadway | February 10, 2013 | master: Eleka Nahmen | VOB

Donna Vivino (s/b Elphaba), Alli Mauzey (Glinda), Kyle Dean Massey (Fiyero), Adam Grupper (The Wizard), Randy Danson (Madame Morrible), Catherine Charlebois (Nessarose), F. Michael Haynie (Boq), Tom Flynn (Doctor Dillamond)

Notes: Amazing video from the orchestra from a great angle. Shaky when zooming in and out the first 30 minutes, and a few heads in frame at times but the filming is unmatched. This was supposed to be Jackie Burns' last night, but she'd been sick since late January and ended up missing this performance. Donna is just INCREDIBLE as Elphaba...

Broadway | May 12, 2013 | master: Lanelle | VOB

Willemijn Verkaik (Elphaba), Katie Rose Clarke (Glinda), Kyle Dean Massey (Fiyero), Adam Grupper (The Wizard), Randy Danson (Madame Morrible), Catherine Charlebois (Nessarose), F. Michael Haynie (Boq), John Schiappa (Doctor Dillamond)

Notes: Filmed from the right orchestra, at a slight angle, but excellent quality. The taper originally released this as a blu-ray, 2-disc DVDs or 1-disc DVD, so make sure to get the version that best suits your needs.

Broadway | March, 2019 | master: StarCuffedJeans | mp4

Laurel Harris (s/b Elphaba), Katie Rose Clarke (Glinda), Ryan McCartan (Fiyero), Michael McCormick (The Wizard), Nancy Opel (Madame Morrible), Kristen Martin (Nessarose), Jesse JP Johnson (Boq), Jamie Jackson (Doctor Dillamond), Manuel Herrera (Chistery), Kathy Santen (Midwife), Sterling Masters (Witch's Mother), William Ryall (Witch's Father / Ozian Official)

Notes: This is a vivid 4K video with almost no obstructions. Pretty much everything is centered, with beautiful zooms but also wider shots that showcase the dancing and set design. At times the video appears on an angle because my wrists are weak, but you don't miss anything because of it. There is also washout at times, but I do believe my camera handles the spotlights better than a lot of Wicked videos. All in all this is a gorgeous capture of old and new cast members... I'm not finished yet in this bootleg business but if I was this could be my magnum opus.

Chicago | January 25, 2009 (Closing Night) | master: SJ Bernly | VOB

Dee Roscioli (Elphaba), Annaleigh Ashford (Glinda), Kristoffer Cusick (Fiyero), Gene Weygandt (The Wizard), Barbara Robertson (Madame Morrible), Heidi Kettenring (Nessarose), Ted Ely (Boq), K Todd Freeman (Doctor Dillamond)

Notes: Some head and railing obstructions throughout the show; misses the far right side of the stage but some nice close-ups and excellent sound on the video; first couple minutes of each act are blacked out, and there are a few quick dropouts throughout the show. In 2 dvd; sunsetblvd79's master is better than this copy, this one is just for completionists.

Stuttgart | February 20, 2009 | master: Unknown | VOB | in German

Willemijn Verkaik (Elphaba), Lucy Scherer (Glinda), Mathias Edenborn (Fiyero), Stefan Poslovski (u/s The Wizard), Barbara Raunegger (Madame Morrible), Nicole Radeschnig (Nessarose), Robert Knorr (u/s Boq), Michael Günther (Doctor Dillamond)

Notes: Willemijn seemed to be in a bit of a funny mood, she cracked up in Heissgeliebt (Popular) and nearly started laughing in the Catfight. She does a High Witch Cackle in the Cornfield scene, probably to try it for Jana’s last the next day. Lucy seemed out to make her laugh even more than usual. Most of Wicked Witch of the East is missing and so is the beginning of March of the Witch Hunters.

Seoul | March 28, 2014 | master: Unknown | wmv | in Korean

Ock Joo-Hyun (Elphaba), Kim Bo Kyung (Glinda), Jo Sang Woong (Fiyero), Nam Kyung Ju (The Wizard), Kim Young Joo (Madame Morrible), Lee Yea Eun (Nessarose), Kim Dong Hyun (Boq), Cho Jung Keun (Doctor Dillamond)

Notes: In personal opinion one of the best wicked korean bootlegs to be ever filmed. Rebecca's Mrs Danvers, Oak Joo Hyun is killing it with her ruffs and Kim Bo Kyung, Rebecca's Ich (Wow, did you realize they were in the same production a month before and is in a same production again?) is a bouncy, funny but at times serious Glinda. During catfight after Fiyero swings in, Kim throws the hat accidentally to Oak's face but Oak and Kim both managed to stay in character despite some laughter from audience.
