Notes: Beautiful HD capture with no obstructions. Has some variations from the PreBroadway version, including cut songs, added songs and scenes. This version seems more streamlined and a great piece.

Into the Woods

Music & Lyrics: Stephen Sondheim // Book: James Lapine

Broadway | May, 1989 | master: Pro-shot | VOB

Bernadette Peters (Witch), Chip Zien (Baker), Joanna Gleason (Baker's Wife), Kim Crosby (Cinderella), Danielle Ferland (Little Red Riding Hood), Ben Wright (Jack), Robert Westenberg (Wolf/Cinderella's Prince), Chuck Wagner (Rapunzel's Prince), Tom Aldredge (Narrator), Tom Aldredge (Mysterious Man), Barbara Bryne (Jack's Mother), Joy Franz (Cinderella's Stepmother), Kay McClelland (Florinda), Lauren Mitchell (Lucinda), Edmund Lyndeck (Cinderella's Father), Phillip Hoffman (Steward), Pamela Winslow (Rapunzel), Cindy Robinson (Snow White), Merle Louise (Giant's voice), Merle Louise (Granny/Cinderella’s Mother)

Notes: Proshot. Aired on March 15, 1991, but in reality it was filmed between May 23 – 25, 1989. Filmed as a part of the Season 10 premiere episode of PBS’s American Playhouse. Almost the entire original Broadway cast (the only exception being Snow White (who was pregnant) returned to film it.

Pittsburgh CLO | August 9, 2009 (Matinee) | master: juniper47 | VOB

Beth Leavel (Witch), Hunter Foster (Baker), Brynn O'Malley (Baker's Wife), Sara Jean Ford (Cinderella), Jennifer Cody (Little Red Riding Hood), Stanley Bahorek (Jack), Kevin Earley (Wolf/Cinderella's Prince), Greggory Brandt (Rapunzel's Prince), Betsy Lawrence (Jack's Mother), Kaitlyn Davidson (Rapunzel)

Notes: Not the closing performance as previously listed. This was the matinee performance, and the production had an evening show as their closing. A couple of minor obstructions but only in the wider shots. Almost no blackouts and nicely captured.

Hollywood Bowl | July 26, 2019 (Opening Night) | master: itwbroadwaytrades | mp4 (HD)

Patina Miller (Witch), Skylar Astin (Baker), Sutton Foster (Baker's Wife), Sierra Boggess (Cinderella), Shanice Williams (Little Red Riding Hood), Gaten Matarazzo (Jack), Cheyenne Jackson (Wolf/Cinderella's Prince), Chris Carmack (Rapunzel's Prince), Edward Hibbert (Narrator), Anthony Crivello (Mysterious Man), Rebecca Spencer (Jack's Mother), Evelyn Okano (Cinderella's Stepmother), Grace Yoo (Florinda), Stella Kim (Lucinda), Gregory North (Cinderella's Father), Daniel Lopez (Steward), Hailey Kilgore (Rapunzel), Whoopi Goldberg (Giant's voice), Tamyra Gray (Granny/Cinderella’s Mother)

Notes: A fantastic capture of this all star cast performing at the legendary Hollywood Bowl. The audience was energetic and enthusiastic throughout. Shot in a mix of wides and zooms. This video is of the actors ON STAGE, not the big screens set up around the venue. There is occasional spotlight washout, but it is quickly corrected. Shot in crystal clear HD with no obstructions.

Notes:

Encores! | May 6, 2022 | master: shesmydoctor | mp4

Heather Headley (Witch), Neil Patrick Harris (Baker), Sara Bareilles (Baker's Wife), Denée Benton (Cinderella), Julia Lester (Little Red Riding Hood), Cole Thompson (Jack), Gavin Creel (Wolf/Cinderella's Prince), Jason Forbach (u/s Rapunzel's Prince), David Patrick Kelly (Narrator/Mysterious Man), Ann Harada (Jack's Mother), Lauren Mitchell (Cinderella's Stepmother), Brooke Ishibashi (Florinda), Ta’Nika Gibson (Lucinda), Albert Guerzon (Cinderella's Father), David Turner (Steward), Shereen Pimentel (Rapunzel), Kennedy Kanagawa (Milky White), Annie Golden (Giant/Granny/Cinderella’s Mother)

Notes: Some obstruction from heads with dropouts during A Very Nice Prince, and much of the last 3 minutes are audio only. Focused on close group shots and zooms as the production involves minimal staging, so the actors are the main focus. All-star cast with standout performances from Heather Headley, Sara and NPH, Denée Benton, and Cole Thompson!

Second Broadway Revival | November, 2022 | master: Lasagna | mp4 | NOT FOR TRADE until 2023/12/29

Stephanie J. Block (The Baker’s Wife), Brian D’Arcy James (The Baker), Montego Glover (The Witch), Krysta Rodriguez (Cinderella), Gavin Creel (Wolf/Cinderella’s Prince), Andy Karl (t/r Rapunzel’s Prince), Kennedy Kanagawa (Milky White), David Patrick Kelly (Narrator/Mysterious Man), Katy Geraghty (Little Red Riding Hood), Cole Thompson (Jack), Annie Golden (Cinderella’s Mother/Grandmother/Giant’s Wife), Ann Harada (Jack’s Mother)

Notes: Obstructed capture of the replacement cast of Into The Woods! Large heads on the left and right block a lot of the action so I wouldn’t recommend for a first time watch but solos and important moments are captured well

Signature Theatre | December, 2022 | master: TheatreCouple14 | mp4 | GIFTED UPON REQUEST

Jake Loewenthal (The Baker), Erin Weaver (The Baker's Wife), Nova Y. Payton (The Witch), Katie Mariko Murray (Cinderella), Vincent Kempski (The Wolf/Cinderella's Prince), Paul Scanlan (Rapunzel's Prince), Alex De Bard (Little Red Ridinghood), David Merino (Jack), Sherri L. Edelen (Jack's Mother), Simone Brown (Rapunzel), Crystal J. Freeman (Grandmother/Cinderella's Mother), Christopher Bloch (Narrator/Mysterious Man), Chani Wereley (Lucinda), Lawrence Redmond (Cinderella's Father), Casandra Victoria (u/s Florinda), Maria Rizzo (Cinderella's Stepmother), Kurt Boehm (Steward), Phylicia Rashad (Voice of the Giant)

Notes: Excellent full-stage shot phone boot of an exceptional cast doing great work in a tiny theatre. All action captured well, probably one of my best videos yet. The staging of this production was so creative, and the cast is a who's who of local DC talent. One of the most enjoyable nights of theatre for sure.

Chris McCarrell (Percy Jackson), Kristin Stokes (Annabeth Chase), George Salazar (Grover/Mr. D), James Hayden Rodriguez (Luke & others), Carrie Compere (Sally Jackson & others), Sarah Beth Pfeifer (Clarisse & others), Jonathan Raviv (Chiron & others)

Notes: Collection of 15 clips. Non-consecutive. It's a really obstructed video, and it only has 50 minutes of the show. Highlights include: Put You In Your Place, The Campfire Song, The Oracle, Good Kid, Killer Quest!, Lost!, My Grand Plan, Drive, DOA, Son of Poseidon, The Last Day of Summer, and Bring on the Monster. Several of the songs are incomplete, and there are some other scenes as well.

Notes: Fantastic HD capture of the Broadway transfer of this show, filmed from the orchestra. The video starts part of the way through the first number. Act Two starts after the bus explodes. Please do not post screenshots of this video on Twitter ever. Gifs on Tumblr are okay after the NFT date, but don't go linking things to actors and shows.

Notes: Filmed in 16X9 HD Widescreen. Act 1 shot from the balcony so the bar obstructs the bottom of the stage. Act 2 shot from the mezzanine so no stage obstructions at all. Good clear picture and sound.

Mad Ones, the

Brian Lowdermilk & Kait Kerrigan

Costa Mesa, CA | May 3, 2009 (Closing Night) | master: Unknown | VOB

Patti Murin (Samantha Brown), Jenni Barber (Kelly Manning), Nick Blaemire (Adam / Noah), Lisa Brescia (Beverly Brown), Stephen Bogardus (Derek Brown)

Notes: Final performance: a good mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups shots but a little more obstruction here, but it mostly just blocks the actors' feet/legs sometimes; some washout in the wides, and the dialogue is pretty quiet sometimes, but it's all still understandable. Many changes had been made since the previous video, most notably in The Girl Who Drove Away, Drive, and Sam's monologue after I Wouldn't Change Anything.

Notes: A bar comes into the shot on occasion, a couple heads. Some nice close-ups. Probably the best capture of this flop musical. Sometimes traded as May 5th, but the DVD (with May 4th menu) is the same.
